A small plane crashed last Sunday (March 4) in Mambajao, Camiguin killing one of its pilots and a Norwegian passenger.
The Cessna 172 was about to land in Mambajao when it crashed at around 8:15 in the morning. The fatalities were pilot Christian Cebrecus from Cebu and Raquel Strandre, 37, from Norway.
The aircraft, with body number RPC209, is owned by Avia Tour Company. The plane came from Mactan International Airport in Cebu.
The cause and worth of damage are still under investigation.
Strandre’s husbands Lance, 56 and son Jensola, 3 were injured. Student co-pilot Indonesian Dewi Nurmala, 23 was likewise hurt. They were brought to Camiguin General Hospital and are still under observation.
Mambajao Police is securing the plane debris. The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines is also conducting an investigation at the crash site.
Sun Star Cebu quoted Mambajao resident Lee Aranas as saying that the plane plowed through coconut trees and nearly hit a house, about 10 meters from the wreckage.
Aranas added that the Norwegian husband managed to walk after the crash, but was placed on a wheelchair once the rescue team arrived.
